On
a hillside, in the old section of villas and city squares, in
a green-tile building which was the stable in a 18th Century
mansion, there is a restaurant that is an oasis of calm
amidst the frantic pace of ebullient Lisbon. Clara Restaurant,
easily accessible from the downtown and the business sections,
located at the verdant Campo Mártires da Pátria,
is a splendid convergence of the traditional and
modern worlds.
The
luxury restaurant offers a rich and selective cuisine
at moderate prices. The main dining room seats 130 people
confortably and the enclosed garden dining area offers a pleasant
alternative. For "important" business networking or
intimate lunches/dinners, there is a private room available.
Clara
has been host to many special/social events. The ambient is
elegant and the decor among the finest in Lisbon. The most demanding
gourmand will find the menu a delight.
You
may want to enjoy a drink at the bar, which still reflects
the elegant décor of the past when it functioned as a
foyer of a palatial home; the living room of a private
apartment; and, an antiques shop. You may want to
enjoy your lunch in the enclosed garden, amongst the
lush greenery and running fountain. In the evening, a table
near the fireplace and soft piano music may be more appealing.
The
menu is both traditional Portuguese and sophisticated
international, with a selection of wines and cheeses.
The desserts are delicious.
